Symbols
The emerald field of the shield symbolizes the taiga, the azure extremity is water. Together they mean that the city was built in the taiga on the banks of the river. The figure of a young running woman symbolizes the heroine of the folk epos Angara (the only daughter of old Baikal , who ran away to her lover - the young hero Yenisei ), who gave the name to the city. The golden color of the figure - a symbol of wealth - indicates the high industrial potential of the city.
