Armored cruisers [3] of the Panther type - a type of cruiser that was in service with the Austro-Hungarian Navy from the 1880s until the First World War . Both ships were built in the UK at the Armstrong Shipyard with the goal of gaining experience in modern shipbuilding technologies. By the beginning of World War I, they were outdated; most of the weapons were dismantled in 1909-1910 . During the war years they were used in secondary roles, in particular, as training ships and harbor guard ships. After the end of hostilities, both cruisers were transferred to Great Britain as reparations , but already in 1920 were sold for scrap [2] .
