The High Latitude Arctic Expedition (VAE) is an expeditionary unit of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia , organizing drifting expeditions on the ice of the Arctic Ocean , commonly known under the general name "North Pole" (SP) .
Air transport support for the Arctic expeditions was carried out by air high-latitude expeditions (WWE) - airplanes and helicopters .
