Story

The owner of a travel company, Elena Dudareva, was blown up in her car. The operatives manage to find a witness who may have remembered the killer. Nineteen-year-old Artyom Kipiani sees almost nothing, but he hears very well, and therefore remembered the music that the killer listened to with headphones. And now Nastya Kamenskaya has a problem: does she have the right to risk this young man like that?

Reviews and criticism

Ilya Ovchinnikov in the article “The Pendulum of Marinina” wrote:

«“ Requiem ” and “The Phantom of Music” seem to be written in the same handwriting as “ Killer involuntarily ”, but something has changed. And the matter is not only in pompous and almost identical titles ... not only in simplifying dialogs and complicating author's retreats; not only that Marinina turns into a moralizer and teacher of life. Her previous books were just fine as detective stories - in the best of them at least three storylines were usually developed, which managed to weave in the most bizarre way to the finale. In the last two novels - exactly the same line; and even the most perplexing reader will figure out the killer around the middle of the book. [one]

Vyacheslav Kuritsyn responded even more caustically:

Like the previous one, Requiem is a so-so novel. Did the queen, having married and resigned from the mentor, swiftly written out? What is sad there - before, she was sweet in her naivety, she wrote as if at the reader's level, but now she seems to imagine herself RusPis and teaches us to live, forgetting to entertain. Ms. Marinina! You will behave this way, I will stop buying your books! [2]

Kuritsyn also reproached the writer for being “no longer preoccupied with subtle character prescribing” , that “ Wise heroes” appear in “The Phantom of Music ” , Nastya Kamenskaya “demonstrates miracles of supermanhood, easily recognizing music that she was only told about” [3] .
