Sum-coupon

Sum-coupon - the monetary unit of Uzbekistan . By the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of 12 November 1993 No. 550 “On the introduction of“ sum-coupons ”in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a parallel payment instrument” from 15 November 1993 in the Republic of Uzbekistan to protect the domestic market from excessive ruble mass, as well as to ensure timely payment of funds to the population, additional banknotes of the “sumy”, sample of 1992 (sum-coupons) were introduced. On the territory of Uzbekistan, sum-coupons were used as a parallel means of payment with a ruble of the sample of 1961-1992 in the ratio of 1: 1. At the same time, from November 22, 1993, cards with one-time cut-off coupons , previously introduced to protect the consumer market, were canceled. [1] Banknotes of this series were printed in England at the printing house “Harrison & Sons Ltd”.

From July 1, 1994, by Decree of the President of Uzbekistan No. UP-870 dated June 16, 1994 “On the Introduction of the National Currency of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, in accordance with the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 3, 1993 No. 952-XII, as national currencies were put into circulation, the sum of coupons was discontinued. However, until August 1, 1994, they were accepted into all types of payments without restrictions, in a ratio of 1,000 soum-coupons = 1 soum. [2] From August 1, 1994, the coupons are completely withdrawn from circulation.

Banknotes

On the front side of all bills - the image of the coat of arms of the Republic of Uzbekistan , on the reverse - Sherdor Madrasa from Registan Square. Watermarks: repeating floral ornament on banknotes from 1 to 25 soums and a large, detailed cotton flower on banknotes from 50 to 10 000 soums.

The denominations of sum-coupon banknotes completely duplicated the denominations of ruble notes of the 1961-1992 type.

Banknote numbers of the type AB 12345678 (1-500 soums) or AB 1234567 (500-10 000 soums) are located on the front side under the image of the State Emblem.

Put into circulation on November 15, 1993, withdrawn - August 1, 1994.
