Biography
There is no information about Glycon’s birth and family. Apparently he was born in Athens, here he worked on his works. I traveled to other cities for significant customers. He also visited Rome. Glycon did not do new individual work. According to the customs of that time, Glycon made copies from the works of famous masters.
Only one work of this ancient Greek sculptor - Hercules Farnesky - has survived to our time. It is made from the original work of the famous ancient Greek sculptor Lysippus . Found "Hercules" Glycon in the terms of the Emperor Caracalla , re-discovered in the XVI century., And subsequently became the property of the Farnese family. Hence its current name is Heracles of Farnesia . It is stored in the Naples Museum.
