Ann Arbor Argus is a radical countercultural New Left newspaper published in Ann Arbor , Michigan , from January 24, 1969 to mid-1971 [1] . Founded and edited by journalist Kenneth Kelly (1949-2008), a nineteen-year-old student at the University of Michigan who participated in the Trans-Love Energies campus .
History
The history of the newspaper is closely connected with the left-wing radical party of John Sinclair “The White Panthers ” (Sinclair was one of the founders of Argus [2] ), and the youth movement Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). The newspaper was part of the Underground Press Syndicate counterculture press network. According to Rolling Stone magazine, in 1969, the Argus circulation was 14,000 copies [3] .
