Khachatur Mehakovich (Khristofor Mikhailovich) Avetisyan ( April 14, 1926 , Leninakan , Armenian SSR - 1996 [1] ) - Soviet and Armenian composer . People's Artist of the Armenian SSR (1984). Professor of the Yerevan Conservatory (1985).

Biography

Since 1942 he worked as a canon performer and head of the musical part of the song and dance ensemble.

Since 1950 he taught canon playing at the music school in Yerevan.

In 1958 - 1972 - musical director of the State Dance Ensemble of Armenia .

In 1961 [2] he graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory in composition with Edward Mirzoyan .

In 1974 - 1977 - musical director of the Song and Dance Ensemble named after T. Altunyan .

Since 1977 - teacher, since 1978 - head of the department of folk instruments of the Yerevan Conservatory .

The works of Khachatur Avetisyan are written mainly for folk instrument orchestras and are often performed by them. Khachatur’s musical works are distinguished by lyrics, beauty, and cheerfulness at the same time, but most importantly, they convey the seemingly forgotten spirit of a bygone era. [3]
