Background
For the first time, the song was mentioned as a single [1] [2] in a telephone interview when Avril was in Germany at the annual exhibition-show “The Bread & Butter Surepshow” [3] . Later Sony Music Polska officially confirmed that the song Wish You Were Here will be the next single [4] [5] .
Shooting the video began after a tour of South America and took place during August. Avril shared her impressions from the set and published a couple of photos [6] [7] and two posts [8] [9] .
The release of the clip took place on September 9th [5] [10] .
After the fans received their Limited Fan Edition CDs, they discovered that there was no promised song “Hello” at all, instead they had “Smile (Acoustic Version)” and “What The Hell (Acoustic Version)” on the disc. Fans began writing angry letters to the new label Avril Epic Records. As it turned out, “Hello” does not exist at all, the label expressed its regrets and promised to return the money to those who wish.
