Raymond Chow ( Chinese 鄒文 懐 ; October 8, 1927 - November 2, 2018 ) is a Hong Kong film producer , founder of the Golden Harvest film company [1] . (with Leonard Ho ). Produced over 600 films [2] .

Biography
Raymond Chow was born on October 8, 1927 in Hong Kong [2] . He graduated from a university in Shanghai . He began his career as a journalist . He worked for United Press , The New York Times , and Voice of America . [3] Then he moved to the cinema. In cinema, he worked as a publicist at Shaw Brothers Studios. Unsatisfied with the quality of the films produced by the studio, he was transferred to the post of producer [4] . Having left Shaw Brothers Studios, in 1970, together with Leonard Ho, he founded his own film company Golden Harvest , which produces films of various genres from comedies and action films to art house films [2] and their distribution [1] .
In 1971, he met Bruce Lee , with whom he signed a contract for the production of three films. One of the films, “The Way Out of the Dragon,” earned about $ 40 million at the box office.
In 1979, he met Jackie Chan . In 1998, he produced the film “Rush Hour” with starring Jackie Chan , which brought Chan success in Hollywood [2] [5] .

Significance
Raymond Chow is called "the godfather of Hong Kong cinema" [2] . It was he who played the decisive merit in discovering the talents of Bruce Lee , Jackie Chan and many other Hong Kong martial artists [1] . He made a huge contribution to the formation of the genre of films with martial arts in its modern form [6] . According to critics, the main achievement of Chow is the export of martial arts films to the West [2] .
