Lordegan [1] ( pers. لردگان ) is a city in the south-west of Iran , in the provinces of Chekharmehal and Bakhtiaria . The administrative center of the shahrestan is Lordegan .

As of 2006, the population was 22,728 people [2] ; Bakhtiars prevail in the national composition .
Geography
The city is located in the south of Chekharmarhal and Bakhtiaria, in the highlands of central Zagros , at an altitude of 1,556 meters above sea level [3] .
Lordegan is located approximately 90 kilometers south of Shehre Kord , the provincial capital, and 460 kilometers south of Tehran , the country's capital.
History
The hills surrounding the city ( Ghale Afghan , Ghale Goshe , Ghale Geli ) are of anthropogenic origin and carry civilization layers, the earliest of which belong to the era of the rule of Elam (2500-3000 BC) [4] .
