Virtusphere

VirtuSphere is a virtual reality device. As the name implies, it is a sphere - a virtual world simulator that rotates when the user walks, providing an unlimited plane for movement. Wireless helmet-display with gyroscopes that track the movements of the user's head and displays the virtual world. VirtuSphere can be used for a variety of purposes, including exercise, video games , military training and virtual museum tours.

VirtuSphere was created by Ray and Nurulla Latypova, who founded VirtuSphere Inc in Redmond , Washington.

Using VirtuSphere Simulator

VirtuSphere, developed by Lockheed Martin as an operator simulator for the Mounted Warfare TestBed military test group, is located in Fort Knox . The simulator consists of a sphere, a pair of infrared mice for tracking the movements of the sphere, position sensors from InterSense on the user's head, weapons, a computer serving the simulator, a laptop with a virtual generator, video glasses for the user and all parts are connected wirelessly.

Using this simulator, the user can interact with other simulated entities, either separately controlled simulators like the Advanced Concepts Research Tool (ACRT) or computer-generated forces like OneSAF. The simulator is used by MWTB for experiments examining future weapon systems and tactics, and for evaluating the actions of soldiers.
