Canned Russian-made cod liver
Cod liver oil is a food product used in traditional cuisine of Russia and some countries of the former USSR . It is a raw Atlantic cod liver , which, as a rule, is sold in canned form in the form of pieces of liver seasoned with pepper and bay leaf in their own fat. It is most often used in combination with boiled potatoes, onions and hard-boiled eggs for making pastes , salads , sandwiches and other cold snacks.
Cod liver is a source of fish oil and as a result has a very high degree of fat content (more than 60%). At the same time, it contains a significant amount of a number of substances important for the human body, including vitamin A , vitamin D , vitamin E , unsaturated fatty acids , folic acid , proteins , iodine .
