Biography
She made her debut in the early 1940s on the radio as a singer, and in 1941 she first appeared on movie screens in Orson Welles ’s drama Citizen Kane . Throughout the 1940s, Warrick continued to act in films, and in the 1950s she moved to television. Her first success came in 1965 with the series Peyton Place , where the actress played Hannah Kord for the next three years, for the role of which she received her first Emmy nomination in 1967.
In 1971, Ruth Warrick was invited to the role of Phoebe Tyler Wallingford in the soap opera “ All My Children ”, which became her only role for the next 35 years. For this role, the actress was twice nominated for the " Daytime Emmy Award ", but did not receive an honorable television prize. Only in 2004, the actress was awarded a special Emmy Award for her acting achievements throughout her life. The last time she appeared on the television series in January 5, 2005 was in an episode dedicated to the thirty-fifth anniversary of the show, and on the 15th of the same month, Ruth Warrick died in her New York apartment at the age of 88. Her contribution to the American film industry is marked by a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
