Biography

Hamid Avaluddin was born on October 5, 1960 in Par-Par , South Sulawesi Province. From April 8, 2008 to December 2011, he served as Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia and Belarus . Prior to that, from October 20, 2004 to May 8, 2007 he worked as Minister of Justice and Human Rights in the Government of Indonesia.

On November 26, 2011, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Ravil Gainutdin presented Hamid Avaluddin with the highest Russian Muslim award - the Order of Al Fahr - for his significant contribution to the spread of Islamic cultural and spiritual traditions, selfless service of the Muslim Ummah, for his active participation in the implementation of peace and harmony programs in society, for the development of dialogue and cooperation between Indonesia and Russia [4] .

Career

He began his political career while studying at the University of Makassar , South Sulawesi Province. In 1998, he received a Ph.D. degree from American University ( Washington , USA ). He was a member of the Central Election Commission; He took an active part in the negotiations between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh movement .
