Hydrelox (diving)

Hydrelox ; Russian name - KVGS (Oxygen-hydrogen-helium mixture) - designation of breathing gas mixtures for scuba diving, consisting of helium , hydrogen and oxygen .

Hydrelox is used in the deep diving phase. By removing nitrogen from the mixture, the toxic effect of the gas is reduced. However, at great depths, the so-called hydrogen anesthesia begins to act. Currently, this family of mixtures is used exclusively for scientific research. The maximum depth at which hydrelox was tested was more than 500 meters.

Due to the explosiveness of the mixture of hydrogen and oxygen (one of the explosive gases is formed ), hydrogen is added only in a mixture with a low oxygen content.
