Zalessky, Adam Iosifovich

Born into a peasant family in the village of Kimeiki, Senno district (now the Senno district , Vitebsk region , Belarus ). Graduated from Minsk Pedagogical Institute (1940). In 1963 he defended his doctoral dissertation ( Academy of Sciences of the BSSR ; “Soviet patriotism of the peasantry under the Nazi occupation of Belarus (1941-1944)”).

In 1937-1940, the deputy director of the Minsk Pedagogical School.

Member of World War II .

In 1945-1953 - teacher, dean of the Kursk Pedagogical Institute . Since 1953, he was the head of the ethnography sector of the Institute of History; since 1957, he was deputy director of the Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR . In 1970-1981 - at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR ^[1] .

He studied the history of the Great Patriotic War, the partisan movement in Belarus, and national politics in the BSSR.

For ten years he headed the Minsk regional organization “ Knowledge ”. In 1994-2002 - Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Association "Historical Knowledge".

About 300 scientific and educational works have been published, of which eight are monographs.

He was awarded the orders of the Patriotic War II degree and twice - the Red Star, medals.
