Patriarch Jeremiah IV ( Greek Πατριάρχης Ιερεμίας Δ΄ ; Crete - 1824 Mitilini ) - Patriarch of Constantinople , who occupied the throne from 1809 to March 3, 1813.

Biography
Born on the island of Crete . He did not receive a systematic education, but he was prudent, peace-loving, he knew the Turkish language, Turkish laws and customs well.
After being ordained to the holy dignity, he was protosynkel at the Patriarchal Council in Constantinople , and in 1783 he was elected Metropolitan of Mytilene and ordained bishop .
Patriarchate
In 1809 he was elected to the Patriarchal Chair of Constantinople.
During his patriarchate, he promoted enlightenment among the Greek people. He wrote the district epistle to the Christian, condemning luxury, prohibiting the burial of the dead inside temples and ordering monks to live in accordance with monastic rules.
Being old and prone to disease March 3, 1813 he retired and retired to Mytilene , where he died in 1824 in old age.
