Matthias Kumm (born August 15, 1967 in Bremen , Germany ), professor of law at New York University . He is also a research professor on “Globalization and the Rule of Law” at the Center for Social Research ( Wissenschaftszentrum , WZB) and Humboldt University in Berlin .

His research focuses on major issues of global, European, and comparative public law. He was also a visiting professor at the Harvard Law School, Bucerius Law School in Hamburg , the National University of Singapore and other leading universities in the world.
Matthias Kumm defended his doctoral thesis (JSD) at the Harvard Law School, also studied law, political science and philosophy at the University of Kiel (Germany), Sorbonne (France) and Harvard University (USA). Kumm is a member of the editorial board of several journals on law and political science.
Professor Mathias Kumm lives and works in New York and Berlin.
