Biography
He studied at the Kaunas Conservatory with Balis Dvarionas (piano) and Mikhail Buksha (conducting), in 1949-1959 . Internship at the Leningrad Conservatory .
In 1945, he made his debut in the Kaunas Musical Theater, conducting the Barber of Seville by Rossini. In 1952 - 1996 worked at the Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theater in Vilnius , in 1958 - 1975 . and then in 1991 - 1993 . chief conductor. He conducted the premiere of the ballet by Julius Jozelunas “On the Sea” (1953), the operas by Vytautas Klovy “The Daughter” (1960) and Vytautas Laurushas “The Strayed Birds” (1967), etc. In 1973, he first recorded the opera by Rodion Shchedrin “ Not Only Love ” for the company " Melody ".
In 1949 - 1999 He taught at the Lithuanian Conservatory , since 1975 he headed the department of opera preparation. In 1982 he received the title of professor.
Laureate of the State Prize of the Lithuanian SSR (1960), People's Artist of the Lithuanian SSR (1964). Commander of the Order of Gediminas of the third degree (1996).
Two sons of Rimas Genyushas are also professional musicians: Petras Genyushas (b. 1961) - pianist, Julius Genius (b. 1962) - conductor.
