Bell Challenge 2004 is the 12th draw of the annual professional women's tennis tournament held in the Canadian city of Quebec and is part of the WTA tour as part of a series of tournaments of the 3rd category .

In 2004, the tournament was held from November 1 to 7 . The competition continued the autumn series of hall tournaments, preparatory to the Final Championship .

General Information

The proximity to the Final Championship markedly impoverished the composition of the Quebec prize and only the 30th tennis player of the rating became the first racket of the competition: local native Marie Pierce , however neither she nor the other seven seeded showed special interest in the struggle for the local title, having amicably lost even before the semi-final stage . In their absence, even one of the participants who started the tournament with qualifications could make it to the finals: American Abigail Spears , in the second round, outplayed the fourth seeded compatriot Jill Kreibas . Superfluous matches affected in the final, where Spears lost in the decisive game to Slovakian Martina Sucha , who was spared from additional matches before the start of the base.

The double prize also cost no season leaders, and the seeding was led by an alliance with the participation of the then 19th racket of the world Tamarin Tanasugarn , who appeared in the net with Claudine Scholl . The Thai-Luxembourg team, in the end, lost already at the start, and the fight for the title was reduced to the match of the second seeding alliance - Els Cullens / Samantha Stosur - and the seedless team Carly Gallikson / Maria-Emilia Salerni , where the Americans were stronger in the two sets. For the 17-year-old Gallixon, this title was a debut at a similar level, and the 21-year-old Salerni won this victory for defeat in the 2002 final.
