Nauyaat ( Inuit. ) Is a village in Nunavut , Canada . Included in the administrative region Kivalik . Population - 1082 people. (according to the 2016 census) [1] . Until July 2, 2015, the village was called Repulse Bay ( English Repulse Bay [2] ). The village has its own airport .

Geography
Nauyaat is located near the Arctic Circle , on the shores of Repuls Bay , in the south of the Melville Peninsula. Polar bears , caribou , walruses and seals inhabit the area; in the waters of the bay you can meet whales .
Climate
The climate is arctic , with a large annual amplitude of temperature fluctuations.
There is little precipitation, the main peak of their fall falls on the period from July to October (summer-autumn).

Population
According to the 2006 census, 748 people lived in Nauyaat. This is 22.2% more than in 2001 (612 people) [1] .
Of the approximately 750 people living in the village, 385 are men and 360 are women. The population is very young: the average age is 18.9 years (compared with 23.1 years on average in Nunavut) [1] . At the same time, for men the average age is 19.4 years, for women - 18.6. Almost 40% of the population does not reach the age of 15 years [1] .
In total, 170 families live in the village. The native tongue for the vast majority is local Inuit dialects. Only about 120 people speak English [1] .
A native of Nauyat is the modern Canadian children's writer Michael Kusugak .
