Biography
In 1954 he graduated from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan , continued his education at Harvard , Oxford and Cambridge . He taught economics at the University of Cambridge, econometrics at the Catholic University in Milan, and also lectured at Columbia University, Indian Institute of Statistics in Calcutta, and the School of Economics in Delhi as a visiting professor . Currently, she is an Emeritus at the Department of Economic Analysis at the Catholic University of Milan.
Contribution to Science
He is known in economics thanks to the substantial development of the theory of neo-Ricardianism and the mathematical formulation of the Ricardian system. He named the theorem in the theory of distribution and the model of economic growth ( Pasinetti theorem ) [2] .
In his article “The Rate of Return and the Distribution of Income from the Point of View of Economic Growth” [3] of 1962, Pasinetti showed that, according to Caldor’s model, equilibrium depends solely on the level of savings that capitalists make, and does not depend at all on whether whether the representatives of the working class make savings. This bootstrap theorem, when capitalists are able to increase the profitability of their own capital by simply increasing their savings (savings), provoked an active discussion, which led to the conclusion that everything depends on a number of other circumstances, the influence of which cannot be determined [4] .
