Game career
Carlo Ancelotti was born on June 10, 1959 in Reggio . As a player, he gained fame as a midfielder in Roma and Milan , in which he won 3 Scudetto ( 1983 , 1988 , 1992 ), 4 Italian Cups (1980, 1981, 1984, 1986) and 2 Champions Cups ( 1989 , 1990 ). He played 26 matches for the Italian national team , participated in the 1986 World Cup , the 1988 European Championship and the 1990 World Cup .
Coaching career
He headed the Italian clubs Reggiana , Parma and Juventus , with whom he won the 1999 Intertoto Cup . In November 2001, he was appointed head coach of AC Milan , replacing Fatih Terima . At the time of starting work with Milan, Paolo Maldini , Alessandro Costacurta , Demetrio Albertini , Sebastiano Rossi and Marco Simone were still playing in the team. In his debut season, Ancelotti led the team to 4th place in Serie A, thanks to which Milan qualified for the qualifying stage of the Champions League 2002/03, and also reached the semifinals of the UEFA Cup . The 2002/03 season is much more successful; the club wins the Champions League and the Italian Cup . In the 2003/04 season, Ancelotti wins a scudetto for the club. Then, Milan for two consecutive years becomes the second. In 2005, the club again played in the Champions League final, but lost to Liverpool on a penalty spot after a 3-3 draw. In 2007, Ancelotti again won the Champions League, taking a rematch in the finals of Liverpool 2: 1.
The 2007/08 season turned out to be the most unfortunate for Ancelotti in Milan, despite winning the club world championship , the team finished only fifth, and for the first time in a long time failed to break into the Champions League.
In 2009, he was appointed Chelsea coach, with whom he made a gold double , winning the English Premier League and FA Cup. However, in the next season the team failed to win trophies and on May 22, 2011 Ancelotti was fired from the post of head coach of Chelsea [4] .
December 30, 2011 was appointed head coach of the Paris Club Paris Saint-Germain [5] [6] . The 2012/13 season was victorious in the national championship for this team.
On June 25, 2013, on the official site of Real Madrid , information appeared that Ancelotti will head the club next season. The agreement is designed for 3 years. In the first season, under the control of Ancelotti, Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup and won the Champions League for the first time in 12 years, having beaten the countrymen from Atlético in the final. After this success, the Italian became the second coach in history after Bob Paisley , who managed to win the Champions League three times. This victory was the tenth in the history of the Madrid club. Also in 2014, Ancelotti's team won the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup . However, in the next season, Real did not manage to win trophies and on May 25, 2015 Ancelotti left the club.
On December 20, 2015, it was announced that from July 1, 2016, Ancelotti will become the head coach of Bayern Munich . On April 30, 2017, three rounds before the end of the championship, Bayern ahead of schedule won the German title, but in the Champions League stopped at the 1/4 final stage, losing to Real Madrid in the sum of two matches, with a total score of 3: 6.
On September 28, 2017, after a major defeat of Bayern from Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League (0: 3), an emergency meeting was convened at which it was decided to dismiss Ancelotti from the post of head coach [7] .
On May 23, 2018, he headed Napoli , signing a contract for 3 years with the club [8] .
Personal life
In 2010, Ancelotti wrote an autobiographical book dedicated to his parents, Giuseppe and Cecilia, as well as a friend and former teammate, Stefano Borgonovo , who is sick with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis . All profits from the sale of the English version of the book went to the Borgonovo Foundation [9] [10] .
Incidents
February 18, 2017 after the match of the German Championship “ Hertha ” - “ Bavaria ”, which ended with the score 1: 1, Carlo Ancelotti showed the fans of “Hertha” a gesture with his middle finger. The coach himself explained this by the fact that fans of the capital's club spat at him. The German Football Union has investigated the incident. As a result, a verdict was issued to fine Ancelotti for 5 thousand euros, although initially it was assumed that the amount could reach 10 thousand. All funds went to the Sepp Herberger Charity Fund [11] .
