Haliplus ruficollis (lat.) - a species of beetle insects from the family of swimmers . Distributed over most of Europe east of Siberia [2] . These insects inhabit freshwater bodies of water, mainly rivers and streams . Larvae feed on algae . Adults are omnivores [2] .

The body length of adults is 2.5–3 mm [2] . The body is short, wide, ovoid [3] ; ocher, tan or red, except for the blackish peak. Antennae and palps yellow or tan. Elytral grooves blackish in moderately strong, often densely dotted punctures; the first points at the base of the elytra are not expanded; the groove is usually less than 40 points [4] .
