Biography
In 1967 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of History at the University of Bucharest, and in 1977 received a degree in economics. For some time he had to engage in teaching, since his father, who worked as a lawyer, was a political prisoner for his dissident activities. Since 1971, he was an assistant at the department, and after defending a doctoral dissertation in philosophy, since 1978, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Sciences.
In late 1989, with the support of a student, he was elected Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Production Management and held this position until 1992. During this period, he completed courses in European Integration at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich. In 1994 he became a professor at the Academy of Economics.
In 1992 he was elected a member of the Senate from the Bacau County, in 1996 he was re-elected from Bucharest, and in 2004 from the County of Arges. In September-November 1996 and in February-June 1998 and in February 2004, he was Vice President of the Senate. In 2000 he joined the Democratic Party .
In 1998, he was appointed Prime Minister of the Christian Democratic National Cerenist Party . In December 1999, he was removed by a presidential decree, but for several days did not recognize its legality, which led to the dual power [1] [2] . At the same time, the leadership of the PPCDP removed Vasily from leading posts in the party [1] . Vasile pointed out that only the parliament can remove the prime minister, but in the end he resigned [2] . The reason for his departure is called difficulties in carrying out economic reforms [2] .
After leaving the Senate, he worked as a university professor and released a collection of poems under the pseudonym Radu Misqui.
Died of cancer in Bucharest on July 3, 2013. He was buried at the Bella Memorial Cemetery .
