Biography
Large landowner of the Kherson district of the Kherson province . A descendant of the ancient noble families of Stenbock and Fermor on the paternal side, Safonov on the maternal.
He graduated from a real school in Odessa and the Petrovsky Agricultural Academy in Moscow, an agronomist of the 1st category. He was engaged in agriculture in the family estate Troitskoye-Safonovo (2225 acres of land ), which was considered one of the model in the province. He invested personal funds in the development of Troitsky-Safonov : he founded a two-year school, a post and telegraph office, veterinary and medical centers, a credit partnership, bazaars, etc.
He participated in the work of zemstvo institutions: he was elected honorary magistrate (1895), county zemstvo (1895) and provincial (1898) vowels , chairman of the Kherson provincial council (1902), leader of the nobility of Kherson district. He was a member of many charitable and educational societies and institutions. In 1906, on behalf of the main department of the Red Cross , he visited the Oryol and Tula provinces, where he got acquainted with the work of the Red Cross institutions, struggling with the consequences of crop failure .
He was elected a member of the State Duma of the 2nd and 3rd convocations from the Kherson province . In the II Duma he was a member of the right-wing faction, in the III-in the Russian national faction. January 8, 1914 promoted to full state councilors .
He died in exile in 1950 [1] .

From a marriage with Eupraxia Sergeevna Somova (b. 06.06.1872) children were born:
