Translated from the Breton language, the name of the commune means “bear island”. The motto is “Arzao Hag Arzam” ( Stop and wait ).
Ile d'Ar is located about 410 kilometers west of Paris , 105 kilometers south-west of Rennes and 8 kilometers from Bath .
