Content

Geography

Located on the border of the Middle and Lower Volga, in the northern part of the left bank of the Saratov region , it is washed by the Saratov reservoir . On the dam of the Saratov hydroelectric station , automobile and railway crossings to the Right Bank are carried out. The area in the central part is crossed by the Bolshoi Irgiz River with a limited number of crossings through it.

The length of paved public roads is 309.2 km.

History

On December 8, 1921, by order of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee , the Balakovo Uyezd with the center in the city of Balakovo was formed in the Samara province . In 1922, 20 volosts were included in the Balakovo district of the Samara province : Balakovskaya, Natalinskaya, Nikolayevskaya, Goryainovskaya, Khlebnovskaya, Krasnoyarskaya, Kazenno-Mayangovskaya, Elanskaya, Pylkovskaya, Nikolsko-Kazakovskaya, Bykovo-Otrogskaya, Malo-Bykovskaya, Kormyezhskaya-Kriyazhskaya, Koryezh-Sri, , Kunye-Sarminskaya, Sukhootrogskaya, Malo-Perekopnovskaya, Sulakovskaya, Kamenno-Sarminskaya volost , Novo-Belkovskaya. The newspaper "Red Nabat" was published in the county. On May 8, 1924, the Balakovo district was abolished, and its volosts were annexed to the Pugachev district .

Balakovo district was formed on July 23, 1928 as part of the Volsky district of the Lower Volga region .

Since 1934, the district is part of the Saratov region , since 1936 - in the Saratov region .

The Law of the Saratov Region dated February 26, 2013 No. 15 − ЗСО [23] Golovanovskoye , Matveevskoye , Natalinskoye , Novonikolaevskoye , Novonikolevskoye and Podsosenskoye municipalities were transformed, by unification, into the newly formed municipality “ Natalya Municipal Formation of the Balakovo Municipal District of the Saratov Region” with an administrative center in the village of Natalino .

By the law of the Saratov region dated April 28, 2015 No. 41-ЗСО [24] , the Bykovo- Otrog , Elansk , Komsomol , Kormezh , Krasnoyarsk , Mayang , Naumov , Novoelyuzansk , Novopololevodsk , Pylkovo and Sukho-Otrog municipalities were transformed by reunification into formed “ Bykovo-Otrog Municipal Formation of the Balakovo Municipal District of the Saratov Region” with an administrative center in the village of Bykov Otrog .

Economics

The main industrial enterprises of the region are: Balakovo NPP (the largest taxpayer, 19%), Saratov hydroelectric power station , Balakovo branch of Apatit JSC, Balakovo Fiber Materials Plant, Balakorezinotekhnika .

15 agricultural enterprises, 185 peasant (farmer) farms and 7035 personal subsidiary farms are engaged in agricultural production. The area of ​​agricultural land is 250.8 thousand hectares, including the area of ​​arable land 165.7 thousand hectares.

The construction of the Severstal metallurgical plant is ongoing in the district. Severstal - Balakovo Varietal Plant CJSC will produce small high-quality rolled products (corner, fittings, channel)
