Geography
Martia is located 36 km south-east of Metz . Neighboring communes: Destri in the northeast, Baronville and Morang in the east, Ashen and Pevange in the southeast, Bellange and Dalen in the south, Breing and Château-Breign in the south-west, Viller-sur-Nye in the west.
It stands on the river Nye-Frances .
History
- Indicated in the Charter of 717 of the Abbey of Saint-Arnoul in Metz called Marte.
- Theodore senors de Chateau-Brein .
- The village was burned in 1325 in civil strife with Metz.
- The commune was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War of 1618–1648.
