History
Prior to the partition of British India , Mirpur County was part of the Jammu division in the independent states of Jammu and Kashmir . The Jammu division was liquidated as a result of the first Indo-Pakistani war , part of the division became part of India , the other part - part of Pakistan .
Geographical position
Mirpur borders Kotli district in the north, Bhimber district in the southwest; in the west and east, the district borders on the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .
