Albert Sidney Johnston ( Eng. Albert Sidney Johnston ; February 2, 1803, Washington , Kentucky - April 6, 1862, Hardin County , Tennessee ) - American military leader, he served in the armies of the United States , the Texas Republic and the Army of the Confederate States . He was considered one of the prominent generals of the south, along with Robert Lee , Pierre Beauregard and Joseph Johnston . Upon learning of Johnston’s death, President Jefferson Davis said: “The loss of this man was a turning point in our destiny.”
