Symbols
In January 2018, a new flag, coat of arms and logo were chosen by the volost. The winner was announced the image of hemp leaf on a green background [1] . Kanepi Parish Elder Andrus Seeme confirmed that of the more than 15,000 voters, 12,000 supported the winning design. [2]
The stylistics of the flag and the coat of arms is explained by the fact that the word "kanepi" is translated from Estonian as "hemp" [3] . The village and the municipality were named so because of the large amount of hemp that grew nearby.
