Geography
The district is located in the central and eastern parts of the Naryn region . It borders in the east with the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.
Population
According to the 2009 census of Kyrgyzstan, 44,080 people lived in the district, including 44,003 people, or 99.8% of the population, Kyrgyz [1] .
