The 6th FIFA World Youth Championship ( English 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship ; Spanish Copa Mundial Juvenil de la FIFA 1987 ) - was held from October 10 to October 25, 1987 in Chile . Matches were held in the cities of Santiago , Antofagasta , Valparaiso , and Concepcion . The tournament was attended by 16 youth teams, who played 32 games. The matches of the tournament were attended by 712,800 spectators (an average of 22,275 per game). The championship for the first time in history was won by the national team of Yugoslavia . The best player of the tournament was recognized as a swimmer Robert Prosinechka .
