Biography
Yuri Klykov was born on November 15, 1925 in Elista. He studied at Elista Secondary School No. 2.
After the German troops occupied Elista, Yuri Klykov left for the partisan detachment. In September 1942, when the partisan detachment was disbanded, Yuri Klykov entered a special school in Astrakhan .
Feat
In October 1942, the partisan detachment “Thunder” was formed, which was joined by Yuri Klykov. The partisan detachment was based near the village of Baga Burul , from where it made regular raids on German military formations located in the areas of Elista and Baga-Burul.
On November 5, 1942, the partisan detachment “Thunder” entered into battle with the German troops. The partisans were surrounded and repulsed by attacks for two days, after which they were captured.
In Elista, Yuri Klykov was tortured. On November 11, 1942, the partisans who were arrested were taken to execution and ordered to undress. Yuri Klykov refused to obey the order of the enemy and rushed to the head of the Gestapo, and then, having fled, hit his head on a stone wall.
Memory
- By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Yuri Klykov was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree.
- In Elista, one of the central streets of the city is named after him.
- The Kalmyk poet Aksen Suseyev dedicated to Yuri Klykov the poem "At seventeen boyish years."
- In 1970, the book of the journalist Yuri Shvetskov “Orlyonok” dedicated to Yuri Klykov was published at the Kalmyk Book Publishing House.
