Advantages of key connections:

• simplicity of design;
• ease of installation and disassembly;
• low cost.

Disadvantages of keyed connections:

• keyways weaken the strength of the shaft and hub;
• the concentration of stresses in the keyway zone reduces fatigue resistance.
