Biography
Ulrika Louise is the daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Solms-Braunfelsky and his second wife Sofia Magdalena, daughter of Count Otto Solms-Laubach.
On October 10, 1746 in Hungen, Ulrika Louise married Landgraf Frederick IV of Hesse-Homburg . Soon after the wedding, Darmstadt troops entered Hesse-Homburg, occupying the country, the city and the Palace of Homburg , but the conflict was then settled.
After the death of her husband, the Holy Roman Emperor approved Ulrica Louise (until 1766, together with Ludwig VIII ) as regent of Hesse-Gomburg with his three-year-old son Frederick V , who received an excellent education. She retained the sovereignty of Hesse-Homburg, which secured the marriage of her son with the daughter of Ludwig IX Carolina of Hesse-Darmstadt .
