Gavrilovo-Posadsky district is an administrative-territorial unit ( district ) and a municipal entity ( municipal district ) in the south-west of the Ivanovo region of Russia .

The administrative center is the city of Gavrilov Posad .
Geography
The southern part of the territory is located in the natural zone of Vladimir Opole , which has rather fertile soils and a picturesque relief.
The main rivers of the region are the Nerl-Klyazminskaya and its tributary, Irmes .
History
Gavrilovo-Posadsky district was formed on June 10, 1929 as part of the Alexander District of Ivanovo Industrial Region from the volosts of Yuryev-Polsky , Vladimir and Teykovsky districts. The following village councils entered the district: Andreevsky, Berezhetsky, Borodinsky, Volodyatinsky, Zagorsky, Zakomelsky, Igrishchensky, Kablukovsky, Kozlovsky, Maltinsky, Mirslavsky, Novoselkovsky , Petrovo-Gorodishchensky, Podoletsky, Serbilovsky, Skomovsky, Tumikh, Shelovsky , Shelovsky . In 1935, the Andreevsky, Tumsky and Shikhobalovsky village councils moved to the newly formed Nebylovsky district , and Igrishchensky - to Ilyinsky . In 1951, the Kablukovsky village council moved to the Ankovsky district . On June 18, 1954, as a result of enlargement, the Kozlovsky, Podoletsky, Skomovsky village councils were liquidated, the Zagorsky and Serbilovsky village councils merged into the Lychevsky Village Council , and the Volodyatinsky and Shelbovsky Village Councils into Osanovetsky . On February 1, 1963, the district was liquidated, the territory entered the Teykovsky rural district with the exception of the city of Gavrilov-Posad and urban settlements Ivankovsky and Petrovsky .
On January 13, 1965, the district was re-formed as part of the city of Gavrilov Posad , the working villages of Ivankovsky and Petrovsky and village councils: Berezhetsky, Borodinsky, Zakomelsky, Lychevsky, Maltinsky, Mirslavsky, Novoselkovsky , Osanovetsky , Petrovo-Gorodishchensky, Shekshovsky [2] . In 1979, the Lipovo-Roshchinsky Village Council was formed . On November 2, 1983, the Zakomelsky village council was renamed Yaryshevsky , and Maltinsky - into Lobtsovsky [3] .
On January 11, 2005, in accordance with the Law of the Ivanovo Region No. 4-OZ [4] , 6 municipalities were formed in the district: 2 urban and 4 rural settlements.
On May 7, 2013, the Lobtsovsky rural settlement was annexed to the Novosyolkovsky rural settlement [5] .
