Upper Swabia ( German Oberschwaben ) is a locality in the southeast of the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg . Forming a kind of triangle, this historic landscape is bounded by the Danube (from the north) and Lech (from the east), as well as Lake Constance and the Alps (from the south).
Main cities: Ravensburg , Bieberach , Friedrichshafen . Many resort towns: Bad Buchau , Bad Schussenried , Bad Waldsee , Bad Wurzach .
The landscape is hilly. In agriculture, dairy farming and horticulture prevail; hops are common.
In Upper Swabia there were many noble estates, such as Koenigseg-Aulendorf , Schenk von Stauffenberg , Ulm-Erbach , Suskind and others.
A distinctive feature of the church and monastery architecture of Upper Swabia is a pronounced Baroque .
