Reconciliation of hours is an important element in preparing for military and police operations , and a daily naval ritual . The result of neglecting the reconciliation of clocks can be greater losses of personnel and equipment due to the lack of coordination and the non-synchronization of the actions of the forces involved.
Procedure
When preparing land operations, time is usually taken as the time model for the leader of the operation, regardless of whether it complies with the standard time (time zone time ) or local solar time . The result of the reconciliation of hours is a single time for all participants in the operation. An error of several minutes in relation to the time indicated above can be used in this case as an advantage if the enemy becomes aware of the start time of the operation or of its individual stages. At the same time, it is extremely important that the clocks of the participants of the operation themselves be synchronized to the nearest second.
As noted in the combat regulations of the US Army , reconciliation of hours is the ability to perform several related and interdependent tasks in different places, which at the same time has a greater effect than the performance of each task separately. Synchronization is a means, not a result. Unit commanders should synchronize the activities of subordinates in such a way as to facilitate the most effective achievement of mission objectives. At the same time, excessive synchronization, according to American military theorists, can also be harmful as the absence of any synchronization [1] .
