History

The company was founded on October 5, 1878 by brewer William Oberg ( Fin. William Åberg ) and his wife, Onny, under the decree of eight prominent members who were considering the creation of the brewery. Also present was the head of Kuopio Ladentaan Lahti.

In 1919, the capital of Iisalmen Oluttehdas was transferred to EWÅberg and the development began to coincide with the beginning of the Prohibition period. In the same year, a ban was launched.

The company in 1920 created a base for storage and sale in the city of Kajaani . Kajaanin Kalja was founded in 1925, and the demand for malt and soft drinks was high.

In 1932, the prohibition law was declared null and void, beer production was restored after 15 years of the prohibition law, the name Kajaanin Kalja changes to Oluttehdas Oiva, and Iisalmen Oluttehdas is leased to Kajaanin Kalja.

In 1938, the name “Iisalmen Oluttehdas” was changed to “Oiva”.

In 1942, by order of the Ministry, the production of III-oluen beer was discontinued.

In 1952, the name of the company changed to Olvi, the name was originally to be shortened to Oiva, but the Ministry of Trade and Industry did not allow this company, at the same time Olvi was temporarily discontinued in Helsinki , and therefore “ Olvi ”decided to change the name and logo.

In 1955, the industrial consultant E.V. Oberg and his wife Hedwig Oberg founded the Olvi Foundation ( Russian Olvi Foundation ), most of the Olvi shares were transferred to the Olvi Foundation. This year, a new beer trade direction has also entered into force.

Each Ab alkoholiliike store could sell brewery beer closer to its area. The location of the trading floor was unfavorable: beer sales fell a quarter from the previous year, in addition, the production of III Oluen and IV Oluen beer was allowed only to some breweries in Finland.

In 1955, Olvi was allowed to brew only strong beer.

In 2008, Olvi PLC bought 51% of the shares of Lidskoe Pivo OJSC for $ 16 million [1] , A. Le Coq (100%), Cesu alus (99.5%), Ragutis (99.57%) [2] .
