History
Aceh Wikipedia began its work in August 2009. The creation of the Aceh Wikipedia was inspired by Wikipedia sections in other languages of Indonesia - Indonesian , Javanese , Sundan and Banyumasan [1] . Fadli Idris ( Indon. Fadli Idris ), coordinator of the Aceh blogging community ( indonesian Komunitas Blogger Aceh ), who submitted an application for opening the section [2] in 2008, and Australian linguist Mark Durie, played a large role in opening the Aceh’s section . ), who made a great contribution to the study of the Achekh language [2] .
In the same year, Abi Azia ( indon. Abi Azkia ), a theology teacher from Lamlo ( Pidi district , Aceh province ), who made a great contribution to articles on Islamic topics, began working in Aceh Wikipedia [1] . According to Akzia, the Aceh Wikipedia is still encountering certain development difficulties, the main ones are the low level of knowledge of the Aceh people in their native language, as well as the lack of a single version of the Aceh alphabet [3] . Nevertheless, according to Akzia, the Aceh section of Wikipedia should continue its development in order to preserve and popularize the Aceh language and culture [3] .
Interesting Facts
- The local community adopted a rule according to which it is forbidden to illustrate articles on the Aceh Wikipedia with images of women, except for the image of a woman's face or palm. This restriction is based on Sharia law , which the Aceh Muslims zealously adhere to. Therefore, in order to use the image of a woman in an article, the Aceh Wikipedia trims it .
