Biography

Jamshid Amirov was born on February 10, 1918 in the city of Nakhichevan . After graduating from high school in 1934, he entered the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute and at the same time collaborated in republican newspapers. In the last year of the institute I left my studies. In 1937–1940, executive secretary in the newspaper “Azərbaycan idmançısı” (azerb.) (“Azerbaijani athlete”), in 1940–1941, head of the department in the newspaper “Gənc işçi” (azerb.) (“Young Worker”), in 1941 - Executive Secretary in the newspaper "Bolshevik Oil".

During World War II, he served as an officer in the Soviet Army; he fought against Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Germany. He was awarded orders and medals - "Order of the Patriotic War, I degree", medals "For courage", "For the capture of Koenigsberg", "For the victory over Japan."

After the end of the war, he worked in the newspapers “Azerbaijan Youth”, “Soviet Trade”. Later, the editor-in-chief of Azerneshr, the deputy editor of the Oil Industry of Azerbaijan magazine, the head of the Baky newspaper department.

Literary activity began in the 1940s. with essays, satires and narratives. The first printed work, an essay “Minutes, seconds ...” was published in the newspaper “Azerbaijan Youth” on August 28, 1946.

Jamshid Amirov is the founder of a detective genre in Azerbaijan. The first works in this genre were published in the 50s. “Coastal Operation” [2] , an exciting story about the work of state security officers who successfully fight foreign intelligence agents, was first published in Azerbaijani in 1958 and translated into Russian in 1961.

Jamshid Amirov died on December 29, 1982.
