According to the 2009 census of the Kyrgyz Republic , the population of the district was 236,455 residents, including: Kyrgyz - 173,920 people or 73.6%, Uzbeks - 61,299 people or 25.9%, khemshiles - 276 people or 0.1 %, Turks - 267 people or 0.1%, Russians - 241 people or 0.1%, Tatars - 123 people or 0.05%, others - 329 people or 0.1% [1] .
