Fish with silver scales reach 22 cm in length and weigh 625 grams [3] . The body is elongated, strongly compressed on the sides. Like other representatives of the stadrid family, they have two dorsal fins : the front is short, prickly, the second is longer. On the caudal stem and along the lateral line in the posterior part of the body, bone-keels are well defined.
Prefers the warm waters of tropical seas, the area lies in the Pacific and Indian oceans . It occurs from the Persian Gulf to the Philippines , from Japan to the Arafura Sea and off the coast of Australia .
It lives in the coastal waters of the continental shelf at depths of 1 to 25 meters. Sometimes it rises in freshwater areas, found in fresh water in the tidal zone in the Mekong Delta . They feed on ostracods , gastropods and other invertebrates, but also small fish.
It has an important fishing value. The main exporters are Vietnam and Thailand , where the caught fish is usually processed.

Contents of the Yellow Striped Product
In Russia, the product of the processing of this fish is known as the " Yellow whale " [4] - a popular dry snack ready to eat. In some cases, the manufacturer on the packaging indicates the Russian name of the fish - yellow-striped selar.
