The source of Poloma is located 22 km northwest of the city of Manturovo . The river flows northwest through the forest, there are no settlements on the river, with the exception of the village of Poloma, located two kilometers from the river at the junction of the narrow-gauge railway Oktyabrsky - Monza in the middle reaches. It flows into Kilnya near the village of Ushenikha, 5 km southeast of the village of Shkolny .
