Saskatoon is the tenth ship of its class - a project of coastal defense ships . This is the second ship named KKE Saskatoon after the Flower Class Corvette KKE Saskatoon (K158) . The ship is named after the Canadian city of Saskatoon and has a few more references to this city in the form of the name of the captain’s rack of Cranberry Flats, and the main corridor is Idilwuild Drive.
The construction of Saskatoon began on September 5, 1997 at Halifax Shipyards ( Halifax ) and was completed on March 30, 1998. On December 5, 1998 it was officially staffed by the FAC and marked with pendant number 709.
It belongs to the Navy in the Pacific Ocean and is assigned to the Esquaymalt BKVS .
