Geography
The village of Shchekotovo is located in the west of the Moscow region, in the southwestern part of the Volokolamsk district, about 12 km south of the city of Volokolamsk , on the right bank of the Shchetinki river of the Ruza basin [2] . There are 9 streets in the village - Vostochnaya, Zelenaya, Klenovaya, Lesnaya, Lipovaya, Lugovaya, Ozernaya, Polevaya and Tsentralnaya [3] . The nearest settlements are the villages of Ivanovo , Klishino , Skoryakino and Milovan .

History
The village is mentioned in letters of 1504 and 1532 [10] .
In the βList of Populated Placesβ of 1862, Shchekotovo (Shchekutova) - the treasury village of the 1st camp of the Ruzsky district of the Moscow province on the left side of the road from the city of Mozhaisk to the city of Volokolamsk, 37 miles from the county town, with a well, with 45 yards and 288 residents (136 men, 152 women) [4] .
According to the data for 1890 - the village of Sudnikovskaya volost of the Ruzsky district with 203 souls of the population [5] .
In 1913 - 43 yards [11] .
In 1919 it was included in the Ostashevsky volost of Volokolamsk district [12] .
According to the materials of the 1926 All-Union Census, the center of the Shchekotovsky village council of the Ostashevsky volost of the Volokolamsk district is 10 km from the Ostashevsky highway and 15 km from the Volokolamsk station of the Baltic Railway. There were 191 residents (72 men, 119 women), there were 42 peasant farms [7] .
Since 1929 - a settlement within the Volokolamsk district of the Moscow district of the Moscow region. By the decree of the Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of July 23, 1930, the okrug as an administrative territorial unit was liquidated.
