Geography
The Promza river originates in the Kabaevsky forest in the Dubyon district of Mordovia, west of the village of Sainino at an altitude of about 200 meters above sea level. It flows east along the territory of the Sur district of the Ulyanovsk region. The mouth of the river is located in the village of Surskoye , 341 km along the left bank of the Sura River at an altitude of 88 meters above sea level. The river is 22 km long.
In the upper reaches, it flows through a ravine 2-3 m high. The river flows through open landscapes, only the source is at the edge of the forest. The river valley with a width of 0.5-1 km is poorly developed for agricultural needs, while a large area of the basin is occupied by cultivated fields. Near the village of Surskoe, the river has a width of about 3 m, a depth of 0.3-0.5 m. The clay soil is silt, the thickness of the silt is up to 30 cm. Some sections of the channel are open, some overgrown with black alder [2] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Verkhnevolzhsky Basin District , the water sector of the Sura River from the Sura hydroelectric complex to the mouth of the Alatyr River, and the river sub-basin is Sura. The river basin - (Upper) Volga to the Kuibyshev reservoir (without the Oka basin) [3] .
